My dog as a enlarged prostate?

My dog as a enlarged prostate. The vet gave us meds but we do not thing it’s to shrink it because I looked it up online and it said nothing about shrinking the prostate. He is in pain, what can I do for him until I go back to the vet and have him neudered Tuesday? Help ASAP.
He also trys to pee but cannot.
last night my dog was crying in pain and I put an ice pack on him where I felt the pain was and it seamed like he liked it.
wheels1984: do you think that was the right thing to do? this morning he peed. like 11:50AM cst he did not act like he had to go out but I took him out anyway. He would not go out until I went out with him but he did pee again. so I think I should take him out every hour.

What are typical treatments for an enlarged prostate in dogs?

Our dog has been to the vet, and his prostate was a little larger than normal. We’re still waiting on results from his urine test, but he has all the sypmtoms of BPH (blood/pus leaking from penis, strained urination and defecation). What are some typical treatments used to shrink the prostate? He’s already on Baytril for any infections he might have. He is an 8 year old, neutered male cocker spaniel.

Has anyone had a dog develop an enlarged prostate even though he has been neutered?

I have a 15-year-old neutered Peke who has been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. The vet is calling back Thursday with more information, but from what I have read, it seems that the prostate is mostly removed with neutering. In what case would my dog then have a prostate problem? Thanks for any info you have!
